KESTREL 4100 POCKET AIR FLOW TRACKER IS

2005 DEALER DESIGN BRONZE WINNER

New Kestrel Weather Instrument is Awarded Prestigious Design Award by
The News’ Magazine

JUNE 2005, BOOTHWYN, PA… The Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration News just announced the Kestrel 4100 Pocket Air Flow Tracker as a Bronze winner in its 2005 Dealer Design Awards. The Kestrel 4100 was evaluated in the Testing and Monitoring Products category, where products were judged on ease of installation, ease of maintenance, ease of service or repair, differentiation from other competitive products, and overall installation and service benefits to the contractor (i.e., time savings, serviceability by inexperienced technicians, diagnostic capabilities, etc.).
The Second Annual Dealer Design Awards were sponsored by the weekly HVACR magazine “The News” (www.achrnews.com), and recognize products that exhibit excellence in design and help HVACR dealers in installation, maintenance and service. An independent panel of 65 contractors judged this year’s entries, which totaled over 114 new products from 82 manufacturers. Said one of the judges about the Kestrel 4100 Pocket Air Flow Tracker. “Every technician I employ will have one of these ASAP!”
Some of the features that make the Kestrel 4100 suitable for HVACR applications include:

  • Automatic CFM (cubic feet per minute) Readings WITHOUT Calculations: simply enter duct shape and dimensions and hold unit in air flow for instantaneous readings. Averaging function allows users to measure CFM in fluctuating or variable air flow.
  • Rugged, Pocket Sized Design Withstands Any Conditions: the 4100 is significantly smaller than other products on the market, fitting easily in technicians pocket or tool belt.
  • 480 Data Logger with Computer Interface Ideal for Facilities Monitoring: the logging interval is set to store data automatically with a customizable frequency (every 2 seconds to ever 12 hours), providing flexibility in monitoring conditions in a specific area over time.  The data can be viewed on the Kestrel’s screen in chart form, or can be uploaded to a computer using the optional interface. Minimum, maximum and average values are also stored, which is particularly helpful for areas that can be reached, but not easily seen.
  • Every Required Environmental Measurement in One Instrument:  other readings include temperature, relative humidity, and dewpoint.  The patented rapid-response temperature sensor is external, allowing the Kestrel to take readings within ±1°C in under a minute. The patented dual-chamber humidity sensor provides quick and accurate humidity readings within ±3%, even in quickly changing conditions. The unit can also be set to Imperial or Metric measurement scales.

The Kestrel 4100 Air Flow Meter retails for $299 and the optional computer interface retails for $79. Both are available direct from NK. NK also manufacturers six other Kestrel Pocket Weather Meters with various feature sets, ranging in price from $89 - $329.

Kestrel Weather division has been researching, developing and manufacturing technically advanced portable weather instruments for over eight years and owns multiple patents on their unique features.  All Kestrels are manufactured in Boothwyn, PA, and come with a two-year warranty.
