NIELSEN-KELLERMAN LAUNCHES ALL NEW COX BOX
NK’s signature rowing product, the Cox Box, gets a makeover in a sleeker, lighter unit that boasts a user-friendly replaceable battery pack.
BOOTHWYN, PA... Nielsen Kellerman, manufacturer and distributor of performance electronics for rowing, is pleased to announce the release of the new Cox Box. The original Cox Box made its mark thirty years ago as the first product to help integrate the many tasks of a coxswain on the river. Now, introducing the new lighter Cox Box designed to fully maximize training and racing goals. The reliable product found in nearly every shell at the recent Olympic Games has a new look, twenty percent lighter body and superior functionality with an easily replaceable battery pack.
“We set out to keep everything that has made the Cox Box an icon - loud and clear voice transmission, hours of daily performance through years of hard use, and a super-simple user interface,” NK CEO Alix Kocher says of the inspiration for the new Cox Box, “We sat where our Coxswains sit, stood in our Coaches' shoes, and thought like a school CFO, to add and improve everything our customers told us they needed.”
The new Cox Box features:
- Clearer voice reproduction and range from digital amplifier.
- Digital charge indicator shows level of charge in use and when charging and also reads charge level from inserted battery pack.
- New microphone uses reliable rubber connector and proven NK gold pins and sockets.
- Improved microphone cable connector is very flexible, abrasion resistant, eliminates crackling interference and helps it to last longer even in salt water.
- Uses same charger and wiring as current Cox Box.
- Stores entire race history in memory - 256 data points. Coxswain can manually store race splits as well. Memory playback makes review easy. Reliable, intuitive keypad controls timer and memory.
- 20% lighter than current Cox Box. Truly floats, even with bumpers on and microphone attached.
- Replaceable, rechargeable battery pack. Battery packs can be charged up and stored, and popped in to restore Cox Box to full performance. Charged battery packs will hold charge for months.
Kocher says NK’s experience enables them to confidently deliver on customers’ changing needs. “After 30 years of making the Cox Box, the rowing product that defines the NK brand, we can say for certain that we know EVERY way our customers use and abuse this product and EVERY thing they need it to do.”
